EMPOWERING THE CHILD WITH AUTISM : A TRAINING FOR PARENTS & PROFESSIONALS

30 January - 1 February, 2019
National Centre for Autism

The three days workshop was conducted by Merry Barua & team at Action For Autism.
The workshop helped participants understand the world of autism from the child’s perspective. It explored the approach, the varying learning styles; and ways to keep the learning process an enjoyable experience while learning any skill - communication, social, cognitive, self-help and so on. More importantly the workshop examined why and how to make accommodations for people with autism and how to pre-empt behaviors turning ‘challenging’, and finally explore practical strategies to address ‘challenging behaviors’ if they do occur.
The workshop was well attended by around 70 parents & professionals.
