WORK & EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AUTISM

The work & employment opportunities for persons with autism seminar hosted some interesting speakers who shared their work & experience in the field of employment for persons with autism. Dr Liliana Mayo from Peru shared her leading work in employment for persons with disabilities. Dr Sushama Nagarkar, founder of Café Arpan and Dabba Services, Mumbai shared the start of the dabba services and cafe with people with disabilities. The programme also welcomed Dr Shubhangi Vaidya, Sociologist and Associate Professor, IGNOU and mother of a young adult with ASD undergoing employment internship in hospitality & Ms Deepali D’Mello, educator and a mother to a college-going son with autism. Dr Nidhi Singhal, Director, Research & Trainings, AFA shared about AFA’s supported and open employment with the participants. We were also joined by two young speakers on the autism spectrum who shared their experiences - Mr Aditya Mehta and Mr Vishwas Apratim. We were delighted to have Mr Arman Ali, Director, NCPEDP as the chief guest for the programme.

The programme highlighted the need for continued and collective efforts needed in increasing work & employment opportunities for the autism community.
